January 24, 2021
Notice regarding Covid-19 Vaccination : Cancellation of clinic 11th-13th January.
In Pendle East, we have now administered >1200 vaccines to our most vulnerable patients. By the end of next week we will be close to delivering a Covid-19 Vaccine to almost all of our over 80s and the residents in our 10 Care Homes.
Unfortunately, Government and NHS policy has very recently changed; the planned appointments for the 2nd dose that we expected to deliver have to be cancelled. We deeply regret this. We are not receiving a delivery of vaccine and we are very sorry for the upset and inconvenience that this may cause. If you have an appointment for the booster dose on Monday 11th, Tuesday 12th or Wednesday 13th please do not attend.
We have been assured by Government advisers that the first dose offers sufficient protection for a few months and the second dose can be safely delayed. We will contact you to arrange your second dose. If by any chance you have not been contacted by us 10 weeks after your initial jab, please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment.
Thank you for your patience as we deliver the most ambitious vaccination programme ever. Continue to follow Government advice to keep infection transmission low; this is the best thing that you can do to keep yourself, your family and our community as safe as possible.
Dr Philip Huxley, Clniical Director, Pendle East Primary Care Network

Dear Patients
re: Coronavirus (COVID-19) and requests for fit notes (Med 3)
You have requested a sick note from your GP in relation to being off work. By law, medical evidence is not required for the first 7 days of sickness. For any period of illness less than 7 days you can self-certify.
In light of the emerging COVID-19 crisis it is likely a vast amount of people will be self-isolating in accordance with advice provided by the Government and Public Health. In these cases, your GP will NOT be able to issue you a sick note. We expect your employer to be sympathetic towards the circumstances.
General Practice is under a lot of pressure and needs to prioritise the healthcare needs of patients who are acutely unwell.
We hope that you understand the current situation and are sorry for any inconvenience.
Yours faithfully
Clinical Team at Harambee Surgery

Dear Patients
Supporting rural GPs
This year, to support dispensing practices such as ours, the Dispensing Doctors’ Association launched a 2019 general elections manifesto. This is a six-point plan to improve the environment in which dispensing practices operate.
As a Practice which is committed to delivering excellent patient services, we will be writing to election candidates to bring about positive changes for you, our patients, and for our practice. However, it will make our call for action even louder if you, our patients, will write to our local representative as well.
Please use this template letter [link to/upload from
https://www.dispensingdoctor.org/about-the-dda/dda-political-lobby-documents/
for you to fill out at home, and post to our local representative.
Thank you.
